The section Commit to a Single Viable Topic discusses how to pick just one topic by stating that it should go along with your assignment given by your instructor, and making that argument more specific rather than a broad, common topic such as just gun control. It also discusses how you should enjoy what you are writing about and have a true connection with. One must also take into account how long attaining research will take and how when the deadline is, so the topic is reasonable. Your sources and research also must be appropriate for your topic, and easy to find and use.
My take away from this section is that I must stick to one definitive, reasonable, and interesting topic while writing a research paper. I think the best way to chose a topic is to find something that is out of the ordinary to write about but very personal to you, rather than writing about something basic that has been discussed for years. You can avoid choosing a topic that you already know the answer to by picking a topic that you are curious about, and use your imagination to find something creative and different to write about.
I do not yet chosen a community or research question.
