The genre is a narrative, providing personal details, but also has research, so I believe it has both genres mixed together in a cohesive piece.

The footnotes provide extra interesting details and facts that add to the article and connect different ideas. For example, footnote 3 says that "midcoasters' native term for a lobster is, in fact, 'bug', as in 'come around on Sunday and we'll cook up some bugs'". This fact adds to the article by adding an interesting fact that may not have fit in the article itself.

The article does shift from information about the Maine Lobster Fest to just information about lobsters in general. When he says "Consider the Lobster", I think he wants people to understand how lobsters are cooked and processed, rather than just blindly eating them.
