The podcast states that Ben Tyer spent hours on the internet researching global migration, going back and forth between his parents house and his house to print out sources for his research. He said he started with one google search, looking up things about immigration and went down a rabbit hole of information. He then began struggling about the credibility of his sources, believing they could be biased. He then tried to get research from every perspective. He used crime stats, studies, etc instead of just personal narratives.

To make sure a source is credible, you have to look at where it is coming from and think about if they would benefit from the reader believing the source. A source should be unbiased when looking at facts, and not trying to sway you one way or another. I believe credible sources could be government websites, or unbiased studies.
