Fermi's Paradox

The prologue starts with Ira Glass interviewing David Kestenbaum, a physicist. He talks about Fermi's Paradox, which is about aliens, and targets the question of 'where are they?'. He states that the idea of being alone in the universe makes him very sad. He dicusses how small we are in the grand scheme of things, and uses an example of when he showed his son videos of the Apollo moon missions, and the astronauts all look so happy but they are just on a desolate, dusty, lonely planet.

The connecting factors between the parts making it one big whole podcast is the idea of being alone and loneliness. The prologue and the first act talk about how lonely the Earth is, and really focuses on the idea of being alone, and the second act discusses the loneliness of a bad marriage, one where the husband had been cheating and the wife had no idea, isolated from this different part of his life, and act three is about a girl named Rosie who feels lonely and asks her father questions about life.

If I could ask my parents anything, I would ask them what it feels like to be married, what their thoughts on us being alone in the universe are, and if they believe in soulmates. I believe they could answer these questions because they are all opinion based, and they have lived through so much and are very wise.

I do not feel scared like David does because I am firm in my beliefs, and I believe that we are not alone.

My favorite question by Rosie is "where do we go when we die?" because that is a question I used to ask my father when I was younger, as I was always curious.
