Layli Long Soldier was referring to an apology made to the Native Americans in 2009. It is important to note that she had not heard of it before because it makes it look like the United States government did not put much effort into this apology or do not care about many people seeing it. It makes it seem much less sincere.
Long Soldier is referring to the phrasing of the apology. She explains how "careful" it is phrased. She uses quotes from the apology to make it more credible. With added details, it is easier to see her point of view.
Specificity is very important in this podcast because it makes her opinion factual based and makes it easy to follow specifically what she means. An opinion is not very persuasive if you do not have specific ideas or quotes in your writing. Specificity makes the author seem more knowledgable and credible.
The structure goes from broad to more specific with specific examples. The tone is assertive and aggravated. I can take away the kinds of questions she asked her and how she came into the interview with facts and knowledge about the topic instead of going into the interview blind.
